The DRT50ZX4 is Makita’s first cordless router, and one of the first cordless routers designed and built for professionals. From installing cabinets and countertops to fitting doors with hinges and lock plates, the DRT50ZX4 delivers powerful, accurate cord-free routing and trimming wherever you need it.
Key Features of the New Makita Cordless Router
At the heart of the DRT50ZX4—and Makita’s ever expanding lineup of cordless tools—is the LXT 18 volt brushless motor. It delivers more power and runs cooler and more efficiently than standard brushed cordless motors.
In addition, this cordless router is loaded with features that ensure it keeps up with pros on the job: soft start-up, variable speed (from 10,000 to 30,000 rpm) and electronic speed control (to maintain consistent cutting speed under load).
As you can see from the images, the LXT 18 volt battery mounts on top of the router. This keeps it out of the way and also provides a stable platform when changing bits. And thanks to a handy shaft-lock button, changing bits has never been easier.
- Rack-and-pinion fine depth adjustment is smooth and precise
- Aluminum housing and base provide maneuverability and accuracy, standing up to the rigours of daily professional use
- Dual LEDs illuminate your work
- Compact, ergonomic housing accommodates single-handed operation
The cordless router is currently available as a bare tool, yet it’s compatible with the same accessory bases (punge, tilt, fixed, etc.) that fit Makita’s corded compact routers, like the RT0701C. The DRT50ZX4 also accepts industry-standard, two-piece template guides.
