Vicmarc VL300 24" Shortbed Bowl Lathe 2.2KW  ( Vicmarc V00766-3US )

This is truly one of the Cadillacs of wood lathes, ideally suited for turning LARGE bowls. The massive electronic 2.2KW variable speed drive gives 150% torque on low RPM, with 3 step flat belt pulleys providing ratios of 1:1 up to 1:3 for large work. The cast iron lathe is mouned on a 5mm thick steel plate stand which has been  designed with a wide footprint for stability and rigidity. The stand also features storage space, and a wood shaving discharge chute that works - chips do not build up under the bed. The included emergency knee bar stop is also a very handy safety feature for hands-free stopping of the lathe. The short bed version, as shown and described here, has a bolt on extension option for increasing the distance between centers to 58".
